6 Steps for Writing Achievable Resolutions

Start 2019 in the right way.

With the new year starting, there is this feeling of freshness, of new beginning and opportunities. It's time to write resolutions for the following year, in order to become a better version of ourselves. But keeping up with the resolutions all year around is not easy, and many times we stop in the middle of the year (or even before). I know it because It happened to me too many times in the past. So I thought I would share a few tips for how to write (and achieve) new year's resolutions.

1. First step - sit down with an actual pen and paper and try to imagine what do you want to change this year, and where do you want to be in the end of it. You can write in a journal, or a little notebook if you have, a simple piece of paper will also do the work. I found it easier to think that way, more focusing then writing on the phone or the computer.

2. Translate your general wishes into specific goals. You're not gonna achieve something which isn't clear and measurable. Make achievable goals, it doesn't mean they have to be easy, but think about things you can accomplish in one year.

3. Put your goals into categories, like physical health, work, hobbies. That way it'll be easier to see where do you need to put most of your effort this year.

4. The how to - this might be the most important step. In order to actually achieve all of your goals, you need to write a master plan for the year. Go into detail about each goal and write what do you need to do in order to achieve it - set milestones, steps, weekly hours, whatever works for you.

5. Take a step further and bring you plan to the everyday level. Write a daily or a weekly to do list, with small things you can do that will move you towards your goal. Make changes to the list over time according to your progress.

6. Track your progress. Use milestones, and every once in a while go back and look at your goals. But don't be too harsh on yourself if you think you are still far away from accomplishing them. Things might take longer than you think, and it's totally fine.

This year there's gonna be quite a big change in my life, I took it into consideration when writing my goals for 2019. But I'm gonna make sure it doesn't stop me from doing what I love and passionate about, like photography, blogging, content creating and more. I believe anyone can make the time to do the things they love, even if they have a full time job, or they're students, or they have any kind of personal problems. It's all about finding balance.

I hope you enjoyed this first post f 2019 (!) and that it was somehow helpful for you.

See you in the next post <3
